Own a 1988 300sel (w126) and need front shocks.

I was looking at Bilsteins but the part numbers are coming out different for every online store.
AMZon also has them but the part number does not match my car.
Bilstein website is kind of confusing.
Some describe the front shocks as "Touring", other stores identify the same shock as Heavy duty...

I just need some good solid shocks

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Ive always gone HD on my w123 cars and liked the ride. Touring is somewhat softer, but its just not an issue at least on the diesels with their heavier engines, IMO.

Bilstein Touring are their standard replacement shocks. These would be similar to the Boge or Sachs replacements.

The Heavy Duty are the gas-pressure shocks. These are good if you want to firm up the ride a bit. They are good, long-lasting shocks.

Either fit the bill for "good, solid shocks".

Too bad EPC-net accounts aren't free anymore, they're $75 a year.

Once you punch in the VIN, it will tell you all the part numbers for your car.

You can get a knock off DVD on eBay for around $10 that includes WIS/EPC. WIS is the workshop information system and that will be the workshop manuals for the car.

You could also try OEM shocks, this site tends to discount MB parts by almost 30%.
