There was a design change I'm finding and yes the 8.1 takes the same filter and because of clearance issues with the front drive shaft it has to be the short version filter, FRAM shows the PH8873 when I inter my info but I don't want the OCOD I want a synthetic filter so I was hoping I could find the ultra plus it has holes center tube.

My options are limited in my filter decisions I know the Platinum has sub par ratings but hopefully it's better then there standard media.

You can get a synthetic stp filter from autozone or the Mobil 1 filter.

They are made in Korea but look very well built. I have one to run at some point. A couple got cut and posted on here when they came out but I don't think anyone ran one. I don't think they were full synthetic but that wouldnt bother me.
