Yeah I know I could get by with no UOA eventually but it's my hobby, I have friends and co workers that spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on hunting, fishing, guns and football so I figure I can afford $13.99 plus $3.00 for postage a few times a year, plus I'm going to get back to buying my WIX products online and the UOA kits are $9.98.

Totally understand.

That was the last year they used the M54 engine in there, with iron cylinder liners.
At first I thought that was a lot of iron for an N52, which has no iron liners, and the engine used after the M54.

So its OK to mix oil brands? At least those are both Shell oils.

Didn't know that about the engine thanks for the information, as for mixing oil it was refilled with a 50/50 mix of 5W40 PZ & 0W 40 Mobil 1 as it is being switched over to M1 for one reason I can get 5 quart jugs for $15.99 each so we will see what next year's UOA looks like!
Thanks TOTO.

Mobil1 and Pennzoil both get their additive packages from Infinitum (jointly owned by the two companies) so maybe they perform well when mixed. Only 'maybe'.
There could be a dependency on %Ester vs. %GroupIII vs. %PAO vs. additive chemistry vs. seal swell ....etc.
Mixing ruins the engineer's goals, yet it might be just fine AFAIK. No worries. We all do it.
