2002 Avalon 1MZ-FE w/ CEL - P1135

Our 2002 Avalon w/ 128,000 miles threw a CEL tonight and randomly illuminated the ABS light. The CEL shows it is for P1135, Bank 1 Sensor 1 heater circuit malfunction. The CEL and ABS light in the same evening is making me raise an eyebrow for a bigger problem.

Car has been running fine with no issues and no reduced MPG up until tonight when the lights came on.

Thoughts? Advice? Wisdom?

I hate to spend $175 on an O2 sensor to only have a bigger problem or a blown fuse or dying relay.

The code many not necessarily mean the O2 is bad it could be a wire harness connector problem or wiring etc.

It should be easy enough to unplug and ohm out the sensor, should be 1 ohm or so.

The car side of the harness should have +12v on one of its pins.

The harnesses should be separate from each other, which is weird.

When our Sienna threw a code for a valve to be replaced (I'm not exactly sure which one) it also illuminated ABS and TRAC OFF lights. I'd not worry that you have a bigger problem.

Toyota's do that for some reason

I'd worry more about the sensor then anything major

What ?!!? Wiring connectors or the wire itself never breaks! Impossible!
