I wear this during winter time here in Seattle. It keeps me pretty dry from rain but not sure if it's good enough for really cold weather.

I've heard good things about that one. He does custom work as well, right?

John, you could check with Meyer the Hatter, down my way: http://meyerthehatter.com/ The Stetson Stratoliner on their Stetson page is a very good model -- I have a vintage Stetson in the same style, and it goes with everything. A thin ribbon doesn't have to mean "Western" or "country style" hat.

You don't want a wool hat, not a fedora anyway, as they tend to shrink. Stay with fur felt. You could also check with the Fedora Lounge: http://www.thefedoralounge.com/forums/
