Nice bump to an old threat.

Just to correct something that I said earlier, I now hear that Magnatec no longer uses esters, but rather some other additive that clings to the metal surface of the engine. It still does the same job and it's still a great oil, just the chemistry has been updated a bit.

I'm using Castrol Magnatec 10W30 A3/B4 semi-syn right now, and it's one of the smoothest oils I have ever used. I had to check my engine was still going (it was) when stopped at the lights.

It's also producing some great UOA, such as this F150 turbo EcoBoost

Bump again.

I never paid any attention to this oil until recently seeing it on clearance at the local AAP stores in my area for $1.85/quart. Too good of a price to pass up and the viscosity index is 192 on the PDS. I'm shocked to see that it's higher than the Edge black and gold bottle.

Hmm, don't say that, I just bought some for my wife's Scion. Still hearing noise with it?
But @ $1.85/qt, I don't feel to bad about it. I am going to return some Mobil 1 0w-20 EP and use this stuff instead.

Let us know how it goes guys.

In the US I think the 0W-20 is full synthetic and the 5W-30 is a semi-synthetic. So $2/Qt for a name brand full synthetic is a good deal.

Price drop to 95 cents each! No more left in my area now
