I've boon looking for the ultimate low temp grease for my snowmobile idler wheel bearings and chassis lube. I know it says not four wheel bearings, but I believe that's due to the high temps of bearings with brakes. My bearings should never be much above ambient temp. Temps are almost always going to be below freezing, sometimes -40 or colder. Needs good water washout, low torque, long life, good corrosion. I think I've settled on Aeroshell 33, I like everything but the $20 a tube local price. Sure I'm not going to be using much of it, but I think the aviation name and requirements are driving up the price. Anybody know of a comparable grease, at a lower cost? Or a better grease you recommend?

Thank you

Some good reading on this product, and a nice test on grasses done by the Army.

Aeroshell 33 is an Extreme Pressure grease fortified with molybdenum and is not suitable for tapered cone roller bearings or ball bearings.

Call me crazy, but I would think that the snowmobile manufacturers have tested/approved lubes for this application. I mean, they build the stuff, test the stuff , repair the stuff, maintain the stuff, etc. I assume that they are aware that their snowmobiles will be used in arctic conditions.

I too, the would use the OEM specified/reccomended grease.

Not to mention Aeroshell 33 is vile... I can't stand working with it. No matter how much PPE I wear I feel like it gets everywhere.

Aeroshell 33MS now called Aeroshell 64 has moly.

While you're here KG, Aero Shell LGF will work in very cold temperatures to keep your suspension working. Not so good in summertime MX bikes.

You're right. Aeroshell 33 is the Boeing grease. When did they change from 33MS to 64?Makes me wonder how old the tubes at work are...

OP, what about Mobil SHC 100? Specifically designed for high-speed bearings and low temperatures, and is a PAO base. Won't be cheap, though.

I've looked at the SCH 100, it's a little bit thicker, I'm sure it would work. Mobil 28 and aeroshell 22 look good too but I want to stay away from clay.

Lubriplate recommend their Mag-1 grease
