Last few OCI my 2011 BMW R1200R had VR-1 mixed to approx 15W-40. Analysis has been great but on cool (50F) the bike would often stall on first start with the VR-1. Now with the 5W-50 it is good to go on cool mornings with never a stumble.
Now at 2500 miles on the Castrol and will send a sample @ 5000 when I change oil and filter. I expect shear to a 40wt is possible, but that is within spec and equal to my prior use with good result. Crankcase Oil does not lube the gearbox or clutch.
