Is it a single unique product, or a product type with a few different flavors?

What's the difference between this (which says 'brake parts' right on the front): http://agscompany.com/product/sil-glyde-silicone-lubricant-tube-4-oz/

And this apparently brake-specific lube?: http://agscompany.com/product/sil-glyde-silicone-brake-lubricant-tube-4-oz/

I need to do the brakes on my wife's car today. I already have a NAPA-branded tube of the former and just bought a tube of the latter because I assumed they were different products. But all I'm reading now is that there is only one Sil-Glyde and just the packaging is different. So what gives?

The brake lube states a higher working temperature?

Interesting, I have not seen the 2nd product. I have been using the first one for years with no complaints.
I actually have another product from Kent that works exceptionally well as well. (for caliper lube)

Can you dig up SDS? I'll bet they are the same product with slightly updated packaging.

FWIW, I switched from Sil-glyde to actual silicome compound for brake stuffs about 5 years ago and have been happy. Not sure how much of an improvement its been, but some.

I seem to recall when I last did a brake job, that sil-glyde had a quantity of either solid silica and/or some sort of clay additive, while brake paste (I was looking at 3M but the AGS brand is likely similar) was more of a pure silicone grease without the solids.

For those two specifically Id recommend comparing the SDS first as a start...

Spent 8 hours studying about brake grease yesterday and Friday evening after I realized my purple stuff was killing rubber. Any rate I came up with silglyde and silameric were the only two that had never eaten rubber. I bought both but prefer the silameric.

The top picture you provided is the one folks talked about when talking about brake work.

Hope this helps.

Same thing, different packaging.

Not sure how I missed that on their website but I guess I didn't look hard enough.

Thank you. That answers my question. Guess I wasted $7.50 on another tube of something I already had. Thanks, AGS.
