IMO.....you are highly under-utilizing a top-tier synthetic. What a waste. should be able to do at least 7500...on M-1 or PP.

If your intent is doing only 3000 OCI's (old school)...just save $$$ and go to a conventional.
He has a car under warranty, it calls for oil changes every 6 months. Why does it bother you if he spends an extra $7 twice a year for synthetic?
Because its a stupid waste of resources....I dom't crre if he spends extra $$$, but its still for stupid reasons. USE A CONVENTIONAL.....at 3000 OCI's.

A few points...
This veh gets as much or more conv oil as syn
Nick1994 is correct (warranty)
Driven under sev svc schedule (3k/6mts)

On the other hand, my Corolla does indeed go 10k/1yr between changes under normal sev schedule.

...and i really could care less that you find my reasoning "stupid".

Waste of resources? If an oil change takes 5 quarts and he changes 2x a year, that's still 10 quarts of oil a year, conventional or synthetic. Maybe he has reason to believe a synthetic will protect his engine better? Synthetic oil can withstand high temperatures better, start better in cold temperatures, and some might argue it lubricates better.

10 quarts of oil is 10 quarts of oil.

Is buying a name brand Tide laundry soap a waste of resources, rather than buying a generic one that will still get the job done?

Six month/5000 mile maintenance. 2004 Camry V6. Five quarts of Mobil I 0W-20 and OEM oil filter. Inspected internals of oil filter removed and everything looked new. Never see a pleat out of place, deformed or broken on an OEM oil filter. Works for me and has for twelve years. Think I will drain AT next week or so and use MaxLife ATF.
