Can't get motorcraft trans filter, what other?

Im about to change 05 ford expedition 5.4l 2wd with towing packet. Its about time to change the fluid out, I cant find motorcraft filter in my area, what other aftermarket filter that work the best beside oem one. Thanks

Most transmission filters I have seen are indecernible between brands. Just grab whatever is at your local parts store!

Apparently that 5.4L V8 comes with two different filter thread sizes: a 3/4'' and a 22mm.

Fram XG8A = 3/4''
Fram XG2 = 22mm

Nevermind! I thought this was about spin on oil filters!

Napa auto parts. They will have a few that fit and they usually are very good filters.

Had to go that way as Ford obsoleted the filter for my one year only AOD a while back. Runs and shifts better with the Napa filter than the last OEM I used ...

Anything with a metal casing. I really hate the plastic ones. I have a no name one in my Escort and it's been there for 60-70K miles.

could always order a motorcraft online.


but if you are able to get an aftermarket one try and see if you can get a look at it out of the box before you buy it and if it says filtran on it somewhere it should be good to go.
