I have some DOT 4 brake fluid left over from a Mercedes brake system flush. Will there be any issues if I use this Dot 4 to flush the system on my truck which now has Dot 3? I will end up with a mixture of Dot 4 and Dot 3 in my truck since some of the old Dot 3 will remain in the brake hydraulics of my truck.

DOT 3, 4, and 5.1 are mixable. Only DOT 5 is incompatible with the rest.

I think if it was dangerous, it would be stamped all over the top and master cylinder.

It says Dot 3 on the m/c cover.

I will go ahead and flush with Dot 4. After all it is my own truck and I don't mind experimenting on my own truck. I would hesitate to do that on other people's vehicles that I work on.

I've flushed my system with DOT4LV and haven't exhibited any issues so far. I've also slammed the brakes on loose gravel to "flush" the ABS unit and bled the brakes again. Took me two bottles of this stuff due to the size of the reservoir.
