Hello all. After all the research with the proper coolant to purchase, my mechanic was suggesting to run BG Universal Coolant Cleaner for a day, before the flush. He will then do a thorough flush with water, and add about 55:45% coolant to distilled water... However, the was asking if I wanted the BG Super Cool additive also. I know the additive is highly alkaline, anti-foam, and claims Universal Compatibility. I'm seeing Nitrate and Silicate... So, given what i've learned... That's a NO GO with Phosphated OAT (TOYOTA - what I have, ASIAN or HONDA coolants)?

The cleaner might be okay but stay away from the other stuff. All these products are the same, water wetter, RP, etc, all they do when used with coolant/antifreeze is foul the system, its worthless garbage.

WaterWetter and its like were originally intended for race track use - where glycols in antifreeze will cause accidents because of its slipperiness. Don't use it in a street car.

BG SuperCool looks like a heavy-duty coolant additive for a diesel engine where SCA is needed. Again, not needed especially in newer cars. Might be fine with green coolant or AMAM in an all-iron motor.

Cool. Figured so. Thanks guys. It was a pain trying to find the data sheets, but now you have it

prestone antirust?

I mean anti rust additive, not a cleaner but a antitfreeze booster so you dont have to flush it as much, I have used the prestone for yrs with no issues . Only -time I drained the coolant was when the hoses were changed,t-stat, water pump or I had mechanic do a pressure test.

I don't use anything like that so I have no idea. I make sure its clean and use the correct coolant and change it at the spec interval. I do use Ginger root for engines the OE specs them for eg the Cadillac N* and Subaru.

A dishwasher tablet is just as effective at cleaning and costs a lot less. Same as oil, coolant is formulated to meet certain specs and no amount or type of snake oil will be of any benefit.
