I'm looking for recommendations on what is the proper tool to remove those plastic push pin style plastic clips. I'm talking about the ones that hold various plastic parts on modern vehicles in place. I've been using a small flathead screw driver to pry them up, but some can be stubborn and I end up damaging the clip.

Will these from Harbor Freight get the job done or is this a tool worth spending extra on?

The pliers in your Harbor Freight link are made to pull out the center pin on the center pin type clips. I have a similar pair made by K-D Tools, but they have angle jaws and many times I wish they were straight jaws.

My favorite specialty tool! I also bought a big bag of new push pins off eBay. A great, cheap must have for Honda's and whatever else.

+1, same here

I own it and use it, they work well for many center pin fasteners, the others like the Matco Ethan linked to (I have a different brand but same tool) work very well for inside panels. Buy it nothing wrong with it for what it has to do.

Those should work. I use these http://m.harborfreight.com/5-piece-auto-trim-and-molding-tool-set-67021.html?utm_referrer=direct%2Fnot%20provided
