I want to say I have been using M1 extended at walmart so I change less often but now I have reached 100K and I want to keep this wonderful motor running best it can.

I get on it frequently and I drive a lot for work. city and highway .

suggestions? been using 5w30 I believe.

Ive liked Pennzoil bronze bottle high mileage in the past bestus over PP. Or keep using the EP.
No need to change more frequent.
When you get to 150 you may wan to step up to 0w40 M1 ?

How many miles a month?

I'd just keep using whatever you've been using. 5W30 or 10W30, every 5k? I forget if that motor is 10k OCI's or 5k. 100k shouldn't be far for that motor.

I'd probably use whatever synthetic is on sale. I think that motor is fine with conventional also, but if bought on sale synthetic can be about the same price.

I have 85k on an '07 RAV4 with Pennzoil Platinum 5w30, and the performance and UOAs have been wonderful.
Change to high mileage maybe, maybe not. If it don't stink, don't stir it.

No sure what is the problem here. Keep running M1 EP until engine starts using oil, if ever. Until then, do not worry!
Do not "fix" what is not broken!

Hey MZ-Bird - Have you considered trying Pennzoil Synthetics? We are currently recruiting for our 2016 Pennzoil Used Oil Analysis program, and you seem like a great candidate. You may have seen it on BITOG last year, but through the program, we'll send you a sample of our motor oil along with testing supplies for a complimentary UOA from Blackstone. That way, you can compare our oil to the competitive motor oil you're using. If you're interested, please send us a private message, and we can fill you in on additional details. Looking forward to your response! - Gena & The Pennzoil Team

You post you have been running M1 but now you've reached 100k and you want to change something. Then 12 minutes later you reply you are going to stick with PP High Mileage.

What am I missing here? Are you actually asking us a question?

People get 300,000 miles + running Jiffy lube oil and filters. What makes you think other oils will be better?

I have used both Penzoil synthetic and M1 extended...

I didnt explain that very well.

the Penzoil is always cheaper , im not really worried if I dont catch it right at 5k .

so I guess the real question was what was a better oil ? the M1 or the Penzoil.

I will grab whatever is cheapeest I think. Im due now

I had an '06 "RAV6" and agree with other posters here that it did not seem to be very picky about or hard on oil at all.
Mine was an AWD and I started having tranny issues around 60kmiles...this was the year that Toyota decided that ATF was a "lifetime fluid" that never needed to be replaced. My local Toyota specialist (non-dealer) claimed that the AWD units tended to have issues because the system was a fairly crude front/rear power splitter that would suddenly send max power to the back when both the fronts would slip on a wet stopline or anything like that. I could definitely feel this while trying to turn even very slowly on ice, the rears would suddenly have all the power partway into the turn and bring the back end around...unless I was prescient enough to press the electronic 4WD button, which annoyingly shut itself off at 25mph.
I ended up with a $4k tranny repair and it was getting a little funky again when I traded it in. If you have a FWD model, good for you and I'd guess that engine will keep you happy for years to come. I'm sending a big bird to Toyota right now for dropping the V6 from the RAV4...I had a Toyota saleswoman and a sales manager tell me independently that the "RAV6" was hated at most dealerships because it was felt that it stole sales away from the much more profitable RX350.

It was 5K or 6 months within warranty period using 5W30. Synthetic was not even recommended and with 5K intervals I can see why. As others have said stick with what has worked for you, there is no reason to change.

We have two '08 RAV V-6 models. The 3.5l V-6 is not an oil burner even at higher miles.
