2007 Kia Optima cruise control problem....

The cruise control on my car started acting up when it had about 85k miles on it. Sometimes it could be set, not so other times. I could turn ON cruise (light came on), but was not able to get it to SET. I found that pressing the CANCEL button after turning cruse ON, allowed me to then SET a speed. That worked pretty good for a few months. Now I turn ON the cruise okay, but can never set a speed. The CRUISE light still work like before.

Suggestions appteciated.

My Gen Coupe does this. Try giving the brake pedal a sharp, short jab. Mine will set then. It's the 2pole brake light switch.

There was a TSB on Hyundai stop switch which cause some unusual problems with the cruse control plus a few other things. Don't recall the years for the TSB but my 2010 Hyundai got the new switch (30-minute install).
Maybe some of the Kia's fell into the TSB also (not sure) if using the same switch. Then again may not have anything to do with your particular issue.

There is a recall on the brake switch for many years.
