any recs would be appreciated...

Om my weekly 500mi. drive 200mi. is 2 lane with passing lanes every 10 mi. or so, anyway, seems the state police are setting up traps in these passing lane areas..I don't agree with that because of course you'll speed to get by a slopoke..Friday I went past a parked squad at 97 in a 55, he must not have been set-up but whew that would have gone to litigation.

I'm going to get a detector to miniumize the risk.

I used to have a Escort 8500X50, now I have a Escort Redline. If I were to buy another RD I would look into the new iX that they revamped.

You missed their promotion, if you got a ticket with the new iX they would have paid your ticket.

I had a Valentine One and got rid of it. It seems now with all the new technology out there on vehicles with forward crash alert, adaptive cruze control and such, my detector was going off like crazy picking up all this mess around me. Got to a point that I just turned it off instead of listening to it for miles while following these vehicles. It mainly seemed to be from all the new Cadillac's, LTZ Chevrolet's, Audi's BMW's and Mercedes. Those are the main vehicles that seemed to set it off the most.

Don't forget Acuras and Jeep Renegades. Some Escort models do have some type of filtering. For instance, with traffic sensor rejection it will wait about half a second on K bands before alerting you. Eliminating some false alerts.

8500ci Plus with laser shifters and I haven't gotten a ticket yet.

You can send your V1 in to get upgraded so that it filters that stuff out. I did that, and I no longer have to worry about false alarms from those sources.

Sorry, but at 97mph you're just an idiot road-hazard. If we're going to slam people for driving drunk on this forum, we shouldn't enable "endangerment" speeders either...

My Civic has all that ACC, Lane Keep ect..Honda sensing pkg.

I'm sure some teen girl texters (and drunk drivers) can say the same. SFW...You're statistically a massive risk and even if you don't crash you may cause someone else too...

+1 You need to have a close look at your priorities in life if you think 100mph on a 55mph road is worth doing...

As much as I would normally defend speeding, 97 in a 55 is asking for it. Plus, if you know it's a high enforcement area, you're kinda stuck. Instant on laser and all, I just don't believe it'll help; IMO it'll just let you know when you're busted.

Plus, I've had at least one cop tell me that if they see a detector, they automatically hand out a ticket.

I've had greatest success just using Waze and my eyeballs. Then again, FHP is not the most creative agency when it comes to enforcement, and only seem to target the most prolific speeders. If you're doing 80 on almost any highway, they're not trying to do anything about it.

Again, Escort 8500ci with shifters. It has GPS so you can mark known false alerts and updates keep track of fixed cameras. Remote mounted so no wires or detector hanging.

It'll tell you when to drop out of triple digits and mess with smokey's laser.

Who cares? Why explain yourself? Ignore them. If you want to AVERAGE 97mph go right ahead, just be prepared to ignore the mighty judgment of the Internet Righteous. Also be prepared with a good detector+jammer and lawyer.

Save your money and DRIVE AT A REASONABLE SPEED. 97 in a 55 is insane. This is coming from a Boston driver....

How fast were you and the camper going if 97 was going to pass them? Sounds like bad situation overall if you ask me. I used to be a speed demon in my earlier years but now with a wife and kid and another on the way I cannot risk losing the most important things in my life to save some time on the road.

Drive the speed limit. It's why many of us haven't had a ticket in 50 years and don't have to waste money on radar detectors that rarely work.
