My girlfriends car is due for a change. I'mean wondering what oil would be good for this car? It's the 2.0 non gdi. I believe it specs 5w20/30. We live in ny and this gets short tripped often but also driven for long periods of time a couple times a week. Wondering about maybe a 0w20 or 30?

Pretty much any 5W-20 or 0W-20 oil sounds like it could be acceptable for that engine. I am not all that familiar, however a 2.0L 4 cylinder should be ok on any non-fancy 5W or 0W-20. The W number indicates a Winter rating, if no 0W is available then use a 5W-20 with confidence.

If there is any model-specific information for that car or engine, please chime in.

5w20 Synthetic in winter from Pennzoil,Castrol,or m1
5w30 Synthetic rest of the time. Its GDi so find a A1 A5 HTO -6 spec synthetic like Pennzoil Ultra/Platinum,QSUD or Castrol Edge.

For my wife's Kia Rio, the manual says 5w-20 or 5w-30 but 10w-30 can be used if the temps are above 0 degrees F. It says to use 5w-20 for "best fuel economy". I use M1 5w-30 and might switch to 10w-30 in the summer.

It is NOT a GDI engine.
