The OEM oil filter part # for this engine is 4967 with 3/4-16 threads. I have a FRAM PH-3614 oil filter with the same thread pitch as the 4967. Will it be ok to use the FRAM oil filter on the Yoda 1.8 engine?

4967 is the only one Fram lists for it on their chart. A Supertech 4967 or 4386 per the chart at Walmart for $2.87 or so will also work just fine. A Motorcraft 822 or 836 will also work if you have those on hand.

According to gasket dimensions 3614 vs spec 4967/4386, no. I'd choose the longer 4386 if mine, fairly confident it would fit this application.

^Agree^ Probably wouldn't seal too long if at all.

4967
Base Gasket I.D. 2.188
Base Gasket O.D. 2.438

3614
Base Gasket I.D. 2.450
Base Gasket O.D. 2.760

Depends on the filter base. Some are a large flat machined surface that will accept a wide range of filter diameters. My wife's Jag will accept anything from about 2 1/2" to 4" across as far a gasket diameter

Don't know about this one? Measuring across the finished flat surface will tell if it'll seal, or not ... If it will, go ahead. If the gasket won't seal it's a no go.

Depends on the block/adaptor mating surface width... same basic filter other than the gasket....I use the both interchangably on OPE without issues but I checked to make sure the gasket was hitting the block/adaptor good

Using Fram look up PH specs for gaskets

Spec PH4967
Gasket ID 2.19"
Gasket OD 2.44"

PH3614
Gasket ID 2.47"
Gasket OD 2.75"

Looking online at topic Corolla filter block area, spec 4967 filter OD comes very close to OD of block mesh point. While it will screw on, very unlikely imo it will go for long if at all without leaking.

I just started to use the XG3600 on my Toyota Matrix. The gasket fits perfectly and no leaks or weeps in 800 miles.

It's not the exact same engine, but I'm pretty sure the filter will fit since they both have a 1.8l. 3600 and 3614 have the same specs except the 3600 is longer.

Make sure it fits, since the 3600 and 3614 are fatter.

For a 4986 application, I'd probably use 4386 (or better yet, the Wix 57145)

Toyota specs the 3614 size for the larger engines. I don't know what their reason is, but they make the engines and wouldn't need to stock more sizes unless they have a reason. I would donate the PH3614 and buy a Toyota filter at the dealer or online. I think the 90915-yzzF1 or F2 would either be specified. Use those and there is no more guessing or worries.
