Maybe I should do like the Blues Brothers and wear dark Ray Bans at night.

You could always install some very dark tint on your windshield to cut down on glare from crazy bright headlights.

But then you would find your current headlights inadequate, and you would have to install some 70W eBay HIDs ( 4 for only $50) in your low beams and fog lamps to compensate for the windshield tint.

People would flash you, but your new tint would protect you. It's a crazy universe, isn't it?

Your included picture might not be doing justice. I believe the real problem with filament vs HID are the different orientation and different focal point of the two light sources. That picture makes you think they are "close enough" but that is not true.

What you want is even spread of light in front of your car going as far as possible. Entire lighting assembly is tuned to achieve that. Having too bright right in front of you and too dim farther hurts your vision. Obviously same is true with the blotchy light pattern. And of course the glare to the oncoming traffic but even if you were to be a **** about that, it still makes you see *less* than OEM assembly. And that is why you don't do it.

Would LED be any better for an old headlight made for halogen? Scotty Kilmer from youtube recommends these.

No absolutely not! Halogen reflectors need halogen bulbs, not hid and not led.

If you really want to try something controversial albeit effective, look into retrofitting ACTUAL hid housings into your oem housings.

95 Caprice classic most likely has a patterned lens.

If you put a projector behind it, the patterned lens will still mess up the beam pattern.

you'd have to start with a clear lens assembly and put a tiny projector in there and make sure the rear gets sealed up properly

I love watching how people trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

If your car came with halogen bulbs, for safety and performance reasons they need to stay that way. So profound, yet so simple.

I'd be suprised. Again, our stock housings really suck. I tried everything with my Roadmaster and Caprice. Just awful.

Until LEDs can be made in the same size and shape as a halogen filament they won't properly interchange in a halogen housing. Optics require very accurate source locations.

I see what you mean. What did you end up going with?

HID before adjustment

After adjustment

I have the 35W version of that Innovited H11 kit installed in my 2010 Fusion.. and I made the decision to do so after some long and hard thought, and with one MAJOR caveat:

- After installing the lights, if I saw any glare, or a substantial change in lighting pattern from stock halogen bulbs, I would go back to Halogen.

.. After some trepidation and lots of comparison, I left them in - The results were extremely good, IMHO.

... HOWEVER, my 2010 fusion has stock projector low-beam housings, and thus project the HID light in a controlled fashion. I would NEVER EVER install these HID kits into a headlight with a reflector housing. There's simply no control and you just end up throwing the light everywhere. Your best bet is to go back to a good quality halogen bulb that is meant for that housing.. or if you MUST, spend the money and do a PROPER retrofit.

I have the same 35w set 6k and they look amazing. Car came with projectors and I adjusted them properly. No flashes from anyone or the cops.

+1.

Beam pattern is bad regardles. So far since adjusting them, no flashes from other drivers

But you still can't see ____
Actually I take it back you *think* you see great but in reality your night vision is severely restricted because of all the light being dumped right in front of you. Not only there is no light being put in the distance, your pupils are closed and you can't see anything further.

That is why you don't do aftermarket lights.
