They sell Shell RT5 10w40 synthetic blend.

That would make things easier for you, right?

From what I've read it not for a wet clutch application.

vindex,
looks like you have found a very nice sweet spot for your motor.
doubling the oci yet barely a hair under grade.

i would go 15k, 20k or 25k before doing another uoa.

and keep up the good job with the air filter!

the scatter on wear metals (Mn,Cu,Ni,Pb,Fe,Al) should be of no concern.

steve

p.s. for once i dont see the scatter with Ag. did the stoners recalibrate?

What's Ag.?

I wouldnt go any longer between changes, sure its a good report but the fact that Victory recommends a 2500 mile oil change is for a reason.
The reason is, as your report shows, the viscosity after 2,900 miles, your oil is BARELY in the 15/40 grade. I suspect Victory would like you to run a 15/40 oil and if you entend oil changes you will be running an oil in the mid to lower 30s.

Sorry for the old late 3 year reply, how is your shifting on your '04 Vegas? My '09 KP (35k miles) is very clunky & difficult to down shift after 1k miles on Vic oil, especially when the engine is hot. I've only used Vic oil. I'm hoping you found a cure for my clunky shifting

The bike to this day shifts butter smooth.

I know, old thread, but I have a 2009 Kingpin.

I spoke with a Victory Rep. He said that due to the shifter having a hard time "finding" neutral, they recommend the 2500 OCI. He said without that shifter thing, It would be 5000 OCIs

Never had a shifter problem of any kind changing at 5000.

its a well known fact that Vic's overpriced semi-syn 20-40 does not hold up well! many cheaper oils work better as well as the more costly group IV + V oils, your choice + your $$$

Make sure your clutch is adjusted properly, that can have a huge effect on the ability to find neutral.

This is a shared sump motorcycle, yes? Do you ride fairly hard? Reports on the 15W look good. 5W looks like it sheared a little more.
