Why the double login?

Every time I visit this site and I click on "My Stuff" and then "My Posts", the system makes me login again, even though I'm already logged in. Why is it doing this?

Don't click the "Remember me on each visit." For some reason it does not work for me either and will make me log in again at a different page.

This! It took me a while to figure this out but for whatever reason it works backwards.

That was the problem. I logged out, then logged back in and left that box unchecked, and no more double login. Thanks!

My log in has also been acting funny lately. I have always had the password and username remembered by the site never had any problems. I was also always able to go to the other MyStuff tab and would be signed in there also.

Now I have to sign in on the MyStuff page even if I am signed in on the main forum. Never had to do that before. Now when I close the forum and come back later, even though I have the Remember me box checked, I still have to log in. The strange part is I have always had to sign in with my user name and my password, but now I just click sign in and I get access without putting in my username or password. In other words, once I was logged out, I always had to put in my username and password, could then check the remember me box, and it would be good for about a week.

Now when I click log in, it automatically logs me in with no information having to be put in by me. It also does not show the box to click remember me. I also checked the Password that is stored on my computer under the Security settings in Firefox, and the password I found there is one I don't ever remember using or entering. I changed it to a different password thinking maybe the account was hacked. Still not acting like it used to when I was logged out.

Something has changed

Yes it has. I did what the folks suggested earlier (log out, and then sign back in without checking the box), and that worked a few times, but now it right back to making me login every time, regardless if I have the box checked or not...

This should be fixed now - we added a redirect so that if you request http, then you will be returned with https.

Totegoat,

What problem are you having?

Having to login every visit.

If you are using a link (shortcut) to get to BITOG, then make sure you change the URL to 'https' from 'http' - that will allow the browser to cache your credentials.

Yes, it always will, but if you arrive from 'http' instead of 'https', then you'll have to log on again securely.

Well I've been arriving using https and nothing has changed. I still need to double-click (always logged-off). What's strange is that I only need to click on a thread to get logged back-in.

Use a freeware product like CCleaner to clear your browser cache, that will probably make your browser behave.

My browser cache gets cleared regularly. Also, my CCleaner files were removed by Microsoft during the Windows 10 Anniversary Update. They claim CC is no longer compatible with Windows 10. I used it prior for many years.

I only need to click on a thread to log-in also. All my other sites are working fine. Guess I'll be OK.
