i have a 1980s chevy 1/2 ton, its got 2 16 gallon tanks. the passenger side take was run " dry " 16 years ago and never used again( switch systen failed in the cab)

i kinda want to put 5 gallons of premium in it and just drive it around for the next few months. maybe pump it out with an external pump after it sloshes around and breaks up enough stuff.

what do you think ?

also,

i removed the gas cap yesterday and didnt smell any " varnished " fuel smell. nothing compared to the 35 gallons i removed from a 1969 fishing boat that started to sit in 1985.

Fill it up. Drive it a bit.. Replace fuel filter drive some more if you really want to go all out put some b12 Chemtool in it.

I would bet that the main thing you will have to worry about with that tank is rust from moisture in the air. Does it have a drain plug by any chance?

Fill it with apple cider vinegar. When it drain it all that rust will be gone and your truck will smel lovely
