So if I understand things correctly it sounds like the Rockproof is really an "industrial type" tire and not for really something that is going to perform it's best on the pavement.

At least that what it sounds like. Doesn't sound like a combo Off Road-Pavement Cruiser.

Nokian has a video testimonial of a "beta" tester. 50,000 km and half on pavement, he seems pretty satisfied with the paved performance also

The concerns are is that the noise a tire like this could possibly make on the pavement is subjective. It "looks" like it could be pretty noisy on pavement. Not saying it is-but it looks like it could be with those large tread blocks.

Depends on what you are comparing it against..

Compared to the average Mud Terrain type tire this could indeed be very quite.

I hear those guys hundreds of feet away on the highway.
