Crazy noise -- 2011 Chevy Impala

After starting, we are getting this crazy, loud mechanical clicking/tapping noise emanating from behind the dash. Engine speed, AC/heater/fan, drive gear apparently have no effect. It goes away, then randomly returns. Car drive normal otherwise.

Any ideas??

Blend door actuator. Easy to replace; I've done both of them on our 2007 Impala. The gears strip out on them because they are Chinese made garbage, even the OEM ones.

I had the same problem with my 2010 Impala and like Drew says, it was the HVAC blend door accuator motor that had a stripped gear inside. It'a located behind the glove compartment an is a real pain to get out. The positive side Rock Auto Parts has an original AC Delco part for 25 bucks.

maybe it would be better to go aftermarket if gm has so many issues with the delco

Dorman makes a cost effective replacement but their quality is spotty.
