The front diff on my 4x4 Ford F150 needs to be rebuilt. Drained the oil and the magnet was full of shavings and one support bearing on the axle shaft is making noise.

Looking around I see there are the standard bearing and seal kits and there are also master bearing and seal kits. The main difference that I see is that the master kits have shims and also some new bolts for the ring gear. I plan on taking this to a person that rebuilds these and hopefully help and learn something from it.

Do I need the master rebuild kit or is the standard rebuild kit just fine since I am only replacing the bearings and seals?

+1 get the master kit.

Check to see if you can get a Ford Racing kit. It'll be cheaper and good quality.
