Once a year I have a local guy to undercoat my vehicles with oil. He has a small nozzle that resembles a paint nozzle; a hose comes out of the bottom that goes into the oil bucket and a air hose port in the rear.

Will any paint nozzle work? If not, where can I find a similar air-operated nozzle that will spray oil/transmission fluid?

Thanks.

The two guns I have are essentially brake hose with either a crimp or holes to help atomize. The spray is pressurized by putting air into the pot, not the gun handle. Not sure the difference if the air is going into the spray handle. How does the product make its way from the bulk? Vacuum?

Corrosion X and Carwell sell small applicator systems. The carwell one is fairly inexpensive.

Sounds like a real mess. Years ago (many years), I remember dirt country roads would get sprayed with oil to control the dust. Have we gone back to the redneck methods?

I imagine it works like the siphon feed air compressor guns you can buy to "pressure wash" you car or engine. Realize that most homeowner compressors have relatively low pressure and cfm to be very effective. My guess is that the air passing through the gun creates a weak venturi (low pressure) effect that draws the liquid in.

You are correct about creating a venturi effect and thanks for posting the pic and link.
