'06 Kia Sportage weird issue

Tah dah, it finally threw a code P0123, for the throttle position sensor. It also runs like complete [censored] now but at least I have a direction to go with the repair.

Well, only one dealer in town had the part, it was $29...everybody else wanted $25 but couldn't get one until Thursday, so I went with it. Had to remove the IAC to get to the TPS, and cleaned out the IAC while it was off the car...some dark gunk but it really didn't look too bad. The CEL is still on, but the car is behaving normally.

Will the code ever clear by just driving it, or do I need to have it cleared by a professional?

Follow up...the CEL extinguished itself.
