Benefit f a throttle body spacer

There is probably no benefit unless you are running a highly tuned motor. Even then, it takes tests and measurements to ultimately determine what size, and even if, a spacer is advisable. Some spacers were installed at the factory to act as a heat barrier to keep the carb cooler, but basically it doesn't work, so they quit adding them.
 
Some have a port that you can use for nitrous or other uses. The intake manifold phenolic spacers do help with heat.
