It's okay, but use what your vehicle specs.
Many vehicle manufactures have switched or are switching to specifying DOT 4.
Ford as an example has been specifying DOT 4 in all models for the past few years.
A few vehicle makers spec a low viscosity DOT 4 brake fluid and I think the latest Motorcraft DOT 4 is formulated as such.

LV stands for low viscosity.

Does Ford endorse the dot4LV in previously dot3 vehicles? My understanding is that it is perfectly acceptable.

I have some Castrol DOT 4 which indicates on the bottle it can be used and mixed with DOT 3.
