Figured id drop off a UOA for my first post, This is from my 05 Wrangler TJ with 54xxx miles on it that sees mixed daily and offroad driving. This particular UOA was from the summer into fall for a total of 3.5k on the oil and included alot of offroad/beach driving, extended idling, short tripping, and towing in Texas temps and it looks like it held up pretty [censored] good. I'll let you guys decide for yourselves. Left is mine right are averages based on 4k.

that makes no sense unless you misread it.

averages on right, his numbers on left.

I wouldnt change a thing.

That is a spectacular looking 4.0 UOA. I have no idea what he is talking about.

I'm not sure you need to go as thick as 15w40 but in Texas it is clearly working for you.

Would be interesting to see a comparable run on the Rotella 10w30, which is still plenty thick.

Welcome to BITOG and thanks for posting!

I think I've decided on basically running rotella/delo/delvac 15w40s in the summer months. That's when I normally do alot of offroading in high ambient temps, and either T5/defy/PYB in the fall and winter months when I'm mostly commuting.

Yes, that engine got hot at off roading, making a stout syn increase viscosity beyond limits, in just 3.5k mikes. Good decision on 15w40, though, with good Noak. Imagine a more volatile oil.

15w40, in southern TX where it never really gets cold, in an engine that likes a 40 weight oil - what's not to love?

15w oils are good down to what, about 15°F?

Yeah so far this winter I could count on one hand the number of times it went down into the 30s haha, I could probably run 15w40s year round. I've thought of running a straight 30 if I was just going to be wheeling since I almost never shut it off.

Id try a full syn straight 30, to be sure it wont make deposits, since it looks like you're really heating the core of engine. Now, if you find a hdeo, like some of that zoil, fine. Its said that it acts like a 10w30 ... maybe

Great UOA. The 4.0/2.5 seem to love 40 wts. I have 10w40 PYB in our Wrangler. Not exactly optimal winter oil but it started right up at 7 degrees today.

I'd be interested to see how T6 5w40 compared.

Which bit of the UOA are you referring to with these comments ?

Do it for science.
