Post your latest oil change

Out: Valvoline syn-POWAH (she-man and the power of gay skull) 5w-30 + 1 qt PYB 10-30 (top off) 10k+ OCI
IN: Pennzoil 5w-30 Ultra Platinum, Bosch filter

Autozone clearance sale netted me six 1 quart bottles (1 spare) for 2 bucks a piece! I was considering AAP PYB sale on PYB 10-30 but I figured the Ultra Plat was superior esp given the plethora of certs + mild texas winters + AZ clearance prices! When the summer heats up, we shall see what I can net in the 10-30s!

Whops, I lied.

Forgot I was best friends with Pep Boys; after all, they did buy us lunch after being #1 in accounts last month. So make that 5W30 of Proline Syn and a Purolator Synthetic filter. Still can't find the Boss anywhere! Found at Advance. $11

Only ~4300 miles on the oil. I like to go at least 5k but we had a weird warm winter so far so I squeezed an oil change in on one of the really warm 65 degree days a few weeks ago. I knew if I didn't then, then I would have gone well past 5k and probably in the 7500 range by the time it got warm enough for me to lay under my car, with a lot of short, winter trips that I didn't want to do. Oh well. This interval will definitely surpass 5000 miles though.

I just did 10k+ with Val SP + 1 10-30 qt PYB. That went out and guess what in? The PUP you just took out with a regular Bosch filter. And I have good plans to go 5-7k-ish but then again, I said the Val SP would be 7k-ish and it went 10k (with the help of "my little friend", PYB(10w-30)!

2002 Mercury Sable 3.0 L V6 engine. ~225K miles on engine. 4000 miles on oil.

Out: Pennzoil Conventional 5W-20 with Purolater PureOne filter (from Jiffy Lube)
In: Valvoline MaxLife 5W-20 with Motorcraft FL-400S filter

I thought my girlfriend's car had a 4 cylinder engine based on the trim when I bought the filter, but I forgot that she had her engine replaced and that it was apparently replaced with a V6. I'll just have to remember to get a bigger filter next time, but she should be fine until the next time she changes. Also, I'm curious about why her engine requests 5 quarts of oil, but only 3.5 quarts came out.

The oil wasn't heated up properly combined with the tech not extending the drain. I had to hawk the tech who I had to commission to do my oil and made sure he atleast drained it until its a skinny line or else less comes out. As it stands, the oil is above the full mark but I am sure it is not overfilled due to the constant supervision applied. How was that classic yellow bottle mustard PYB throughout the entire cycle?! I also had Valvoline in my crank when at the end of a 10k OCI, I topped off 1 quart of the PYB and it transformed the car. I was blindsighted really and it was the catalyst for finding the PUP on clearance no less! (See sig)

2012 Town & Country, 5000 miles on oil. Out, Havoline synthetic 5w30 and AAP ProMotive cartridge, in Mobil 1 0w30 AFE and STP cartridge. The STP was a repackaged Mahle, very reasonable at less than 6.00 at AZ. The 12.00 worth of clearance M1 was good too!

I changed it this time around and oil was at a very slow drip when I put the drain plug back on. We had driven it around earlier in the day, so the sump was not completely cold. She never had an oil light come on nor did she complain of any leaks, and she has been going to Jiffy Lube regularly for the past couple of years. Everything seemed fine during the change besides the low quantity that came out and I have no reason to believe that she added oil.

I have nothing against Pennzoil, but I have never intentionally put it in any car that I have owned. I may give it a try in my Elantra in a couple of oil changes (I have a bunch of leftover quarts that I need to use up first).
