You mean you didn't try $20 a quart Genuine Nissan Ester Oil?

Oh, you mean the Genuine Nissan Rip-OFF Oil with 0.05% ester?

About 40 years ago I had a 65 Corvair that would have a stuck lifter occasionally. I used to use a product from Wynn's that would clear it up pretty fast.

That's the one they're supposed to suggest to complainers.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall if a service writer suggested that stuff to you, much less started to espouse its virtues. I've never seen it even listed on the price list at the local Nissan dealer, who wants way too much for a conventional oil change. Listing the pricing of the ester stuff might result in a few customers dropping dead at the counter.

You want the concentrate.

Perfect - added to my Amazon cart and will have in plenty of time. Much appreciated!

A lot of things ... even a small exhaust leak ... can sound like a "lifter tick."

I would be sure of what is making the noise before I'd start pouring in fixes.

If it is a lifter tick, using some cleaners is where I'd start ... and I'd start with the mildest ones first ... a switch to a HDEO oil in a light weight like 10W30 ... maybe add a bit of MMO to it for the last 500 miles before you drain the oil.

Dad had a Mercury Grand Marquis with a lifter tick (4.6L V8) ... and an oil and filter change is all it needed.

Rislone concentrate is available at almost every wal-mart nationwide. There is no reason to order it, unless you really want to.... Just an FYI

Yes, but it was $4.47 with 5% cash back & free shipping with Amazon. The aside bonus was that I didn't have to take the time to go to Walmart for this and I also managed to avoid going to Walmart. If you haven't noticed, I'm not a big fan of Walmart. The whole 20 registers with two open thing drives me nuts.

Wynn's 'Engine Tune Up', still sold in the 1970's-style metal can with off-purple graphics.

I've also had success using it on an engine with running problems many years ago.

Still use it as an inexpensive flush before an OC on my cars.

Not bad. I made the mistake of going to Walmart last week. It was packed, with three of about twenty five registers open. It amazes me that this store can just about print money as poorly run as it is.

Lol. Some wal-marts are better run than others. The Wal-Mart in my town is pretty good. It is one of the smaller wal-marts and run pretty well. The "Super" Wal-Mart in the next town over is a mad house. The only good thing about it is that it is open 24/7 and I can go there at 3am (one benefit of being a night shifter) and browse all I want in total peace. I just have to wake the kid behind the register up when I am ready to check out.

Anyways, back to topic, I am not sure which I like better for lifter tick and engine cleaning, MMO or Rislone. They both work well for what I am using them for.

When you get the tick as you near the end of the OCI and you notice the noise and lower oil pressure do you check the stick? I had a Jeep that leaked oil, and a noisy lifter was a cue to check (add) oil.
