I know the motor oil for firearms question has been beaten to death, but here goes another one. Would Castrol's Magnatec be a good choice for a firearms lube? Start up protection for a cold engine sounds like it would provide protection and eliminate wear for a cold bolt carrier group. Thoughts?

G96 gun lube seems to stick the best for me. I have used it to weatherproof engine blocks and cylinder heads that are left outside all winter. Take the tarp off in spring - shiny metal with no rust.

If you want clinging lubricant or grease...

Grease Lithium-calcium grease....very clinging (Renolit BFX...its NLGi2) Aluminium complex.....NLGI1 or 0 is better "grade" for that use....

Oil.....chainsaw bar oil.....or grease/oil for motocycle chain...
