New Subaru Oil Filter 15208AA130

I just confirmed this new black oil filter is only to be used on FB engines:

"Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

The oil filter, part number 15208AA130, for the new 2011 Forester 2.5X models equipped with the FB25 engine is only applicable to the 2011 Forester 2.5X models. It is not applicable to other models"


Darn, so no Tokyo Roki oil filters for those with EJ engines

Don't think it is compatible with EJ engines though. Actually, I'm going to ask Subaru of America right now.


I just packaged up a blown FA20 to go back to Subaru and took a quick look at the filter. It is a Tokyo Roki. It uses the same 20x1.5 threads but the gasket is a little different from the older EJ filters. May still work though. I have a 2.5 that's headed to the junk yard and may slap a BRZ filter on to see if it works or not.

Can I use 15208AA170 instead of 15208AA130 on BRZ 2012 (FA20 engine) or Forester 2012 (FB20 engine)?
