whats the average micron rating, for a NAPA gold filter? 10 - 20 microns? 20 to 30? i havnt used one in years, but am very curious to know, since everyone speaks very highly of them!

Which one? They vary ...although I'll say that in the filters that I've looked up, 19um appears to be the nominal value of high frequency.

Keep in mind that the listed nominal (in bold) at times disagrees with the statistical nominal (beta ratio) figure. In the above example ..the nominal (50%) is rated at 21um (Beta21=2 2=1/2=50% or 50% of the 21um particles are removed in their test and 19/20th = 95% of the 37um particles are removed.

So take this FWIW

You can find this data by entering the filter number of choice at Wix You can enter any filter number and it will puke out the above data if they make an equivalent.

Does that mean that the 51356 filter (http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlookup/PartDetail.asp?Part=51356) with it's beta ratio of 2/20=6/19 filters out 50% of the 6um particles and 95% of the 19um particles?

If that's the correct numbers, yes.

All Wix are rated 2/20 ..that's 50% (1/2) and 95% (19/20)..the other two numbers X/X+ are the particle sizes that are removed in those ratios.

I tend to think that this is a misprint (data entry?) since the nominal rating is 19um ..I think it was supposed to be 19/26 ..not 6/19. Some of the spec's are in error ..or conflict on the Wix site.

I thought that it sounded too good to be true, especially with the nominal rating of 19um. Too bad that's the only size filter that I use.
