ill use fram numbers because i know all of them. my 04 neon calls for ph3614. i know that the ph8a, ph16 and ph3600 all are pretty much the same filter except for capacities. i dont want to run the ph8a or ph3600, they are a little long for me, might be fine but just not for me. if there a filter that is fatter than the ph16 with only marginal height increase?

You want fatter for what gain? Ease of installation or more capacity. If the latter, I would stick with the factory size especially if still under a warranty.

The PH16 is the standard "big" diameter for the Ford/Mopar cans. It's then a matter of length.

I don't think you have any more capacity for diameter.

You may be able to use a ST8A since it's shorter then a PH8A in the Ecore.

If this is a 1st gen neon ..then a 16 is about the most you can use -ground clearance-wise. In a second gen (lateral filter layout) there is no tolerance for any larger diameter then the 3.66" can.

on the second gens the filter is still vertical. the srts have the horizontal filter. (unless im reading what you wrote wrong)

i forgot about the ph43, wasnt that use on old dodges.

No ..you read correctly ..I just wrote wrongly

I had a PT up on the lift at my buddy's shop and it had 2.4 NA ..I did fit a FL1A up to it ..very little room in terms of diameter ...loads of it in length.

by the Wix site ..it does appear to bridge the difference between PH16 and PH8A (PH43)

looks to me as though the ph43 will work fine. depending on how the height works out. i might have to buy one and see how it fits. i dont want it to hang below the oil pan.

the ph43 looks exactly like the middle size, all the other specs look the same, except beta ratio, but how much does that mean, or what does it even mean. i would like to dump the entire 5 qts in the engine. i hate that little dribbles left over after an oil change.

thanks for the info gary. too bad the neon doesnt have a horizontal filter, i would slap an 8a on there in no time flat (size wise of course, there will never be a fram on my vehicles ever, there are just better out there for the same price)

Heck, if you had a 2.4 ..you could probably fit a 51773 ..about 7+" long

FWIW - it appears that the PH43 in a Wix is the best from a beta rating

2/20=10/26

50% 10um
95% 26um
