Found this, old car part or not?

I'm guessing any Studebaker "nose piece" would have wings which swept back more.
The horizontal element in an Opel themed part would be the familiar "lightening bolt" motif.
An intake from a '50's era Mercury comes to mind.
Also, the taper at the ends of the wings makes me guess it's older than we think.

It'd be handy to keep around if ever you blast your car with a shotgun at close range. Glue that piece over the hole-tastefully. Kira
 
Look at a front hood shot of a '56 Olds. Mebbe a Buick porthole from about the same time Nope on both after a little googling

Tried to correct earlier post. It's a 56 Olds 88 hood emblem. The indents on the wings are covered with chrome extensions.

I think you missed your guess. From the searching I have done, the Olds cars of that vintage have an outline of North and South America on them- both on the grille and the horn.
