Roots Blower Oil VG220

Had a roots blower fail at work this week, and the manufacture claims it is because we used Mobil SHC-630 in the blower (originally specified lube) instead of the Roots VG-220 oil they now specify.

Anyone have any history with this issue, or know who is making this oil?

I have used these in fleet vans for cleaning for almost 40 years.

I simply cannot recall one failing, ever. Even when run without any oil at all!

There are many synthetic lubes available for these. Do yours have full oil baths on both ends or is one end greased with fittings?

Never heard of an aftermarket oil being the direct cause of a lubrication related issue with one. Most of the Dresser-Roots blowers we use are the size of minivans. We use a lot of giant Aerzen blowers too.

Did you receive a notice to change the oil to the new spec?
