I installed a transmission temp gauge in my pan a while back and even though I put Teflon tape on the probe it still leaks around the threads. This has me baffled cause I've never had any leakage problems with Teflon tape. It actually didn't leak at all for about a week and then after that it's leaking again. It doesn't actually drip on the ground, but I have to add like 4-5oz every month or two. At 7 bucks a quart that's going to get expensive. What are my options as far as fixing this leak? I've already dropped the fluid once to fix this problem which didn't work. It's a 1/8" npt fitting.

There is a yellow Teflon tape for oil and gas. Did you use it or the white for water?
