Hi, I'm looking for a bike for a guy to use as daily transport.

I'm torn between building a Schwinn frame I have and buying this Ross. I realize it will need rubber and likely a tune up, but will it be suited for the daily grind? My main concern is geometry (size seems about right) and the old-ish Campy bits on it.

The Schwinn would get newer 700c rims and tires- then just clean and re-use the old "Schwinn Approved" parts.

If it matters, fenders and racks will be fitted.

Is there anything I haven't considered?

I wouldn't bother with a bike that old for daily use. Most of those parts are defunct, it's not going to be all that comfortable or fast.

You already mentioned the most important part of bike - the geometry and size,
Steal frame is good choise too.
I don't know what is situation in USA but here in europe there is no standarts, parts from one bike doesn't fit on other
E.g. seatpost diameters are 1inch 26,2mm 28mm 31,2
Bottom brackets variation here is unlimited
Fork length and size too
