Further examination at the site showed a Ford 555 digging at the bottom.

I just saw the security video replay on the news.
OH THE HUMANITY!
And to think I just visited the Corvette Museum last November.
dishdude is right: That's a really, really, really, really bad place for a sinkhole to open up.

It looks to me like almost all of those cars will be completely demolished and not repairable. I hope I'm wrong though! It's a good thing that floor didn't open up during business hours! A couple of dozen people would have died for sure!

Here is the casualty list:

Eight Corvettes were affected by this incident. Those cars include:

1993 ZR-1 Spyder on loan from General Motors
2009 ZR1 “Blue Devil” on loan from General Motors
The other six vehicles were owned by the National Corvette Museum including:

1962 Black Corvette
1984 PPG Pace Car
1992 White 1 Millionth Corvette
1993 Ruby Red 40th Anniversary Corvette
2001 Mallett Hammer Z06 Corvette
2009 White 1.5 Millionth Corvette

The Blue Devil is perhaps the most famous of all these.

I always feel sad to see great old cars destroyed. I often wake up from nightmares that the cars I always wanted to drive were all in the junkyard and beyond repair.

Sad to see, but not really surprising. The museum is built on top of a large system of caves.

I'm a big classic GM guy, but I say ... I could care less.

At least the sinkhole didn't open under a school Bus stop or under a cafeteria.

Ok. I'm a just a little, little sad about the '62.
