Another vote for synthetic 0w30 in the winter (or even year round) for both vehicles. Less startup wear, easier starting and you can likely go at least a full year between changes, depending on mileage.
Expecting comments that no difference in warm starts with 5w30 vs 0w30, and of course that is true.
