20 HP Kohler V twin. Engine was missing so I put in new plugs. The exact Champions the manual called for. One of the old ones was carbon fouled. The other one normal. It ran well with the new plugs for a few minutes but then fouled the plug again and started to miss again.

The welder/generator has about 1,200 hours on it.

Any ideas?? Thanks!

It's running rich for some reason . Is the air filter OK ? , if it is I would suspect an issue with the carb which is likely if it's been sitting for a time unused . It may also be possible the coil to that plug is weak and misfiring .

I have the same engine in my New Holland/Toro lawn tractor and it's been fine with plugs .

I prefer Autolite or NGK plugs.Although the "easy start" Champions arent bad.

If one was clean on fould it is ignition. problem . air and fuel are good since. one plug is clean. check spark. i know the inline style ignition. tester increase the ignition. out put at the plug. i think the coil for that cylinder is weak not dead weak. if it was dead it would miss on the fresh plug. it is weak causing incomplete. combustion. hint the fould plug. that or

ken.
