For my girlfriend, her "sealed for life" transmission leaks a little bit, and eventually manifests itself by not wanting to shift to the next gear. The no dipstick thing is soooooooo nice (sarcasm). Thanks MB! It's great not knowing how much fluid is in the transmission! Or of course, you go to the dealership and get HOSED 9 ways to Sunday. No thanks. I don't want to even buy the overpriced MB atf.....BUT I can find NOTHING that says what kind of fluid the 4matic uses? NOTHING.

I know that Mobil 1 atf will work just fine. But what else? Anyone know?
edit- I'm pretty sure it's Dex/Merc....and I can use Valvoline Dex/Merc....but would like some confirmation.

Thanks!

Looks to me like ATF+4 is the winner. The transmission is the same as the ones used in many Chrysler vehicles (722.6)....and they call for ATF+4.

I dont think that M1 ATF actually has the right spec (236.10?). I think that it was determined that Valvoline Maxlife does.

Please look at the MB Bevo site for the various brands that would be applicable. Youll need to know what sheet number is required for your ATF.

Once you know if you need 236.10 or 236.14 or whatever it is, then you can find the list of fluids that meet that spec.
