post your latest differential fluid change

plus when you have to remove the cover to drain you usually replace the gasket as well (especially if it's RTV) which means a fresh seal on the diff

-Valvoline Synpower 75w140
-Lubegard Gear Supplement
-The right stuff RTV sealant, this stuff is awesome!

Didn't add any FM, as Valvoline claims it's already in there. So far, so good. Unknown miles on the unit, but the Motorcraft 75w140 that I drained looked pretty good.

Synpower 75w90 in Rear Diff

I'm going to take a sample of the fluid that was in there. There was a lot of build up around the magnet. The oil looked ok. Greenish tint.

Out: Very black, thin compound of unknown grade, type and age. Evidence present of previous changes, thankfully.

I actually hadnt intended to get gear oil, but I was perusing the selection at AZ and found the Synpower specified meeting SAE J2360. I was very surprised, so I decided on a whim to take some home and do a change. Glad I did after I saw what was in there.
The LSD seems content with the amount of FM present. No chattering or noise has been heard since. I have confirmed it still works too. Several times.

The drain plug magnet had a very little sludge on it. Fluid was opaque and dark, and subjectively, seemed a bit thick.

The front diff had a lot of fine deposits on the magnetic plug.
The rear was super clean.

Out: Valvoline Synpower 75W90LS.

I didnt intend to change the differential fluid after not even 1000 miles of use; However, I discovered that I had over 1/16" of end play on the axle shafts. It was actually kind of scary how much they moved. So I pulled it all apart. The reason was due to the traction-lok clutch packs being worn out.
After rebuilding I have axle shaft end play of around .010".

In: Valvoline Synpower 75W90LS.

Still no chatter or groaning from the differential even with fresh clutches. I didnt add any FM to the differential itself, though I did soak the clutches in FM, as required.
