Guy in my neighborhood sold his VW and has a 12 quart case of this still on hand. Is this a diesel only oil or could it be run in a gas engine such as my Outback?

The price is right, he wants the shelf space cleared up, so I could get it for $25.

You can run diesel oil in a gas engine with no problems. The elevated zinc levels could harm the catalyst if you have an oil burner.

There are many people here that run Rotella diesel oil in their gas N/A and turbo engines.

Typically VW 505.1 oils also meet some other specifications. Read each bottle carefully and you may know for sure if the oil works.

Seems like whenever I read of a VW engine oil it meets the needs of a VW gasoline engine and a VW diesel engine as well.
