RIP Andrea Antonelli -Moscow World Supersport race

Antonelli suffered massive head trauma in the accident. The race was red flagged and he was immediately taken to an ambulance where the medical staff worked to resuscitate him. Despite their efforts, Andrea sadly succumbed to his injuries at 2:10pm local time.

Italian Antonelli lost control of his Kawasaki ZX6R at the start of the long straight and was hit from behind by Lorenzo Zanetti who was unable to avoid the stricken rider.

All activities were cancelled for the rest of the day.

That's too bad. Racing is, of course, dangerous, but fatalities are thankfully rare. Sorry to hear it.

I just watched someone else's video of the accident on YouTube. It was from a spectator who captured it on their cell phone and had a clear view of the incident. Needless to say, it was so graphic that I didn't even bother to post it here. RIP Andrea.
