I was on vacation in Chicago and at a larger dollar store, something catch my attention.
Coming up closer, I witness a nightmare.
It’s a shelf of some non-certified and obsolete motor oil and ATF.

How about a closer look.“5-30 means the viscosity range from 5 to 30.” Lol, that’s very informative.
Still rocking the kitchen mitten.

Pick your poison

All this Motor oil and ATF fail to meet any standard set by the API. What’s sad is that people are buying these motor oils for their 90’s and newer Ford and Honda unknowingly damaging their engines. To most, oil is just oil and will never know the different between SC and SN oil. Also, shaking these bottle gives off the "like water" feel. Furthermore, for the same price ($2.99) or cheaper, they could have got some Formula Shell, Super Tech, or Mobil Special that are SN and API certified from local store such as Menards, Target, etc.

Just thought it would be fun to share this since I never seen them in Texas.

This is like dumping liquefied dog poop into your engine. I love the "the viscosity is between 5 and 30" quote. What kind of morally devoid clown can actually sell this garbage to people???

Black Knight should be a malt liquor.

Did the dollar store owner chase you out with his broom after this investigation?

You have to bet that these stations are owned by our
um "friends" with the hindi accent and the US gov't interest free loan that helped them buy these gas station/mini marts in the first place.

Perhaps those oil distributors are from the same group. ????

Good thing you had gloves on while touching those bottles!!!! Do not want to be contaminated.

Welcome to Chicago.

A couple weeks ago, I was at the GoLo in Hammound and saw somebody dumping Bullseye into their Mustang. It is tough not to get annoyed at companies trying to sell this garbage.

One of the best Scotch malt liquors is called
"Dirty Engine Oil".
Go figure.

I wonder "WHO OR WHAT" is behind the bottling and distribution of these oils???

Mafia ????

If only Jimmy Hoffa were around....he would stop the delivery of these oils in bulk and bottled to retail establishments.

Or it could be foreign terrorists trying to grenade as many engines as possible so we will buy more vehicles??

The clerk/owner didn't notice me in the back so I survived. The reason I stop by this store was to buy a Chicago key-chain. Lost it now.

Oven mitt are great if you're working on a hot engine. In this case, some of the bottle had leaked and who know what's in them. Better safe than sorry. lol.

I don't know either. I just hope no quick-lube use them for servicing other people's cars.

I just hope this doesn't spread south. Even the most plain looking bottle of motor oil at a grocery store here is API SN certified.
