instead of verbally sparring with this clown, don't respond to his posts. sooner or later, like a virus, he will go away.
i feel bad for the taxpayers of PA., since he is destined to be taken care of by the state. to put it simply, read my sig.

Yes, you should reinstall the foil. That foil is an important heat shield. Without the heat shield the VSS will fail. The VSS will almost never fail with the heat shield in place although the wire going to the VSS is a common failure.

Re-doing, soon.

-you didn't push something in all the way
or
-the gear fell off
or
-somehow you broke the end off of the cable

Of note, this new VSS:

1. Holds 1st gear all the way until redline; Can't give you an MPH on when it shifts, but then it shifts nice and easy.
2. Then Second takes awhile to get to 3rd, but 3rd and OD feel good.

I can absolutely feel a change from the old one, which was the original VSS from Ford (has Ford logo on it) and made rough, jerky, interesting shifts. That poor trans. it is holding up soo well.

Here are three pictures:

Here are three speed sensors, which I now have. The one in the middle is from an AX4N; The old one is on the right. (The fourth, which I described its behavior, is in the car.)

Here is before it went back in the car, and I had no speedo.

And here is the apparatus used to loosen the nut.

Here is what it looked like while we did the dirty deed.

You named "yeti" for a reasn, mr. Abominable Snowman?

Are you the spirit of the Native Americans involved in a creature that Monster Quest confirms has dog hair, left 8ft up in a screen door when it went for meat inside a home?

Are you this guy, that shot Bigfoot? Mr. "yeti?" Is this you?

It doesn't look like the cable is all the way into the sensor, as there's a little "clip" used to retain the cable.

Ahhh, yes, I have that clip in my pocket.

The new VSS *seems* to be acting well, will it act better when the cable is maybe all the way in?

And do I need those other two VSS?

Not the best spot for it.

Not if they aren't for your car

techno -- to answer your question : years back, while training with a group of canucks and yanks, one of the americans gave to me that nickname, because i have large feet.
i must go back to my cave now, as the yeti hunters come out after dark.

?????.... Are you asking this just to get people going? Your car requires ONE VSS.
Do you have 2 more POS Tauruses that you plan on changing the VSS on? Are you holding out on us, GHT?

Though there IS the possibility that the place will simply fix the new VSS that was in there, in the event that it was irreparably damaged somehow, I bought the other two, which if not used will be returned.

The S10 has not yet roared to life, probably has mold forming on it by now. A lot of shop dust, for sure.
